Hi.
I've been a member since Feb 08, but this is only my first post. I think this should be in the 'Introduce Yourself' thread.
Anyway, I just wanted to share a nice piece entitled 'HOW LUCK IS CREATED.'
How luck is createdBy Lloyd Luna Dear Mr. Lloyd,
Congratulations on your book “Is There A Job Waiting for You?”. I was enough to get a copy in National Bookstore. It has really inspired me. I’m already working as a call center agent but after reading your book I clearly saw that this isn’t what I really want.
You must be very lucky in what you are and have now and I want to ask how luck is created.
Thank you and more power!
[Name withheld] Dear buddy,
Thank you for the compliments. It inspires me as well when I hear people telling me such a heartwarming accolade. Though I don’t really store those words in my mind, trust me that I will always have them in my heart.
How luck is created is no new concept. Luck, as what many of us await, isn’t something that is made overnight. It is something that we work on over time. How much time? It depends on which aspect in your life you want to be lucky or on how much luck you want to have.
To create luck is lock yourself to personal development—committing to everything it takes to take luck when you already have it. If you knew how to handle it, chances are it will be so easy to attract it.
Luck isn’t something that you chase after. It is something that you attract by the person you become. That’s why I always highlight in my executive and entrepreneurship coaching that importance of self-development. If you develop yourself to the maximum, then you can’t get below the minimum chance to succeed.
Many times I wonder how great people really became so great that their names appeared in so many testimonials—testimonials written on books and broadcasted over cassette tapes or CDs. When I started to find the reasons, I was surprised by a lot of discoveries I made.
Successful people knew that the more they prepare, the more they get lucky. I always believe that there is always more than one way to do things as there are as many ways to see one object—both depend on how we do or see it. If being a call center agent isn’t for you—and you knew that so well—then you need to ask yourself this: Why in the first place am I here?
I can guess your answer like “because I have no other choice.” Well, I don’t think you have no other choice. For me you simply don’t have a good plan that’s why it appeared that you didn’t have any other choice.
Here’s the key: If you don’t have any plan, chance are you would be part of someone else’s plan. Guess what he reserves for you—only a little.
Give yourself a good game plan and execute it. Make a timeline for whatever goals you may have. Write them. Suffer the pains of discipline for you to get it. Discipline yourself—just a very small discipline of getting up early in the morning, not smoking, spending wisely, reading books rather than watching movies to name a few.
Luck is created by ideas invested in faith and labor. Wrap those ideas and organize them, have faith that your idea of success will turn to your favor and please do the labor. Trust me, God will simply be there to bless you.
Your life coach,
BigL
