CHEUNG FAT.  It was a 4th quarter storm that led the CFC Pistons into where it is now, a 3 game winning streak. The men in blue jersey pounded relentlessly and  broke the Tsuen Wan Wizards' magic wand.  Unable to cast a spell on the Pistons, the Wizards left the battle ground shocked and awe, not knowing what hit them.

Dissecting the Pistons game you could find one thing in bold capital letters - DEFENSE!

After the tip off, point man Edzel "Eagle" Mangalili made a game opening trey that shocked the whole stadium and sent the committee's table to the ground. The Wizards then retaliated with their own magic spell and overrun the Pistons. Except for the opening lead, the Pistons found themselves trailing on the unbeatable game play of the Wizards.

Seemingly an insurmountable obstacle translated to as many as a ten point lead by the Wizards, the Pistons however didn't loose steam. Digging into its playbook, the Pistons found an underrated tactic that no one wants to use. This tactic is no stranger to any coach though a tactic that every star player refuses to use. This tactic is called DEFENSE.  Sounds familiar?

The Pistons changed their stance and decided to play defense. At the end of the third quarter, the rampaging Pistons tie the lead to a 30 all no man's game. And it didn't stop there...

Pistons played a suffocating defense.  The D was so tight that it could be mistaken as an intimate love scene from a cheap adult movie.  Not even the breath of air could pass through it.  Challenging every shot, Ian "Mr. MVP" Divinagracia, Vilmar "Mr. X Factor" Tibio swatted every attack on the shaded lane, sending the shots back to were it came from. I swear it could have challenged the statistics of Dickembee Matumbo.

Second chance points for the Wizards was non existent as Joel "Power Free-throw" Dizon, Mike "El Terrible" Morales, Edmund " The Admiral" Damulo and Allan "Iceman" Abrea took turns on crashing the boards.

And as every coach preaches to his players "defense leads to a good offense". And offense it was!

At the receiving end of a perfect playbook defense was the unforgiving hands of clutch shooters Edzel "Eagle" Mangalili, Danilo "Sweet Shot" Bilo, Emerson "The Sun" Parceo, Edwin "PowerTools" Tirol and of course our contender for the most improved player award - Chris "Mr. Statistics" Exhaltacion.

The Pistons never winked an eye. They held on to the play relentlessly until the whistle blows. And when it did, it only gave the Wizards a meager 7 points in the fourth quarter. The game ended with a 21 point lead. The scoresheet tallied 58 to 37 for the Pistons.

It was a fourth quarter storm and it definitely was a Pistons game. A game that highlighted the true color of the men in blue jersey. The Pistons showed character . . . discipline and it showed that D IS THE KEY!

For the love of the game,

Elmer
Pistons No. 6

Great post Checksix.

CFC teams (Jazz and Lakers) could learn from you guys.
They're undermanned everytime they play.

Defense is very important, and often ignored. Players who tend to
focus on offense will surely collapse in the end.

hats off to CFC Pistons  salute  salute
