Message from the organizer, Mr. Ralph De Castro for everybody's info (... thanks mosong):

Hi All,

Fisher of Men Nets (5-0) & Macrotech Kings (4-1) are semifinalist on this Winter NBA tournament 2007. On their games this coming Saturday 24/03, if they win or lose they still will play on the semifinals.

Tsuen Wan Wizards (3-2) must win their game against the FOM NETS this coming Saturday 24/03 to be a semifinalist, if they lose then a tie between CFC3 Pistons (3-3).

IF Tsing Yi Spurs (2-3) would win this coming Saturday 24/03 against Macrotech Kings then a triple tie between Wizards, Pistons and Spurs. Teams must play the game in order to break the tie.

Both CFC1 Jazz (0-5) and CFC2 Lakers (1-4) are eliminated on this 1st round and will play on the 2nd round.

Thanks,
RDC

Let me re-post here my previous reply to tonychel. Current leaders deserve separate forum for further discussions.

Master Limahong, ano sa palagay mo magiging standing ng teams after round 1?
Ano anong mga possibilties? Me chance pa ba CFC Jazz?   banghead

Obviously FOM is the strongest team in the league despite of the fact that some of its original players were not allowed to join this league. Though the match between the Nets and the Macrotech was a no-bearing game, you can still feel the intensity of the game. Both teams wanted to have a clean slate before the next round and the Nets have shown their true character with or without their best players.

It was a double header last Saturday. The game between Pistons and Wizards was another fun to watch. Wizards were leading the first two quarters but when the Pistons stepped on a high gear, they left Wizards in disarray when their longtoms started to fall in. It's a deadlock in the third. Scores were so low in the 3 quarters due to the awesome defense displayed by these two teams. An interesting match up between the Nets and the Wizards is looming. Wizards should play its best to avoid complication with Spurs and Pistons.

My prediction? Macrotech and FOM deserve to enter semifinals. But still tosscoins between Wizards, Spurs and Pistons. These are the teams that have equal in power barring any untoward absences from their key players. Pistons have a slight edge since its a complete team.

Both Jazz and Lakers should not give up their hopes. What they need is to complete their line up in the second round. They can still pull big surprises in the next round.

Championship ... hehehe ... sikatz ano sa palagay mo?  toothy1     But hey, since Lakers and Jazz didn't qualify for automatic semifinal slots, your Dream Finals will never happen.  laughing  Both of them still have chance to enter the semifinal stage but only one will advance.  Cry

The looming championship race should be exciting.

Granting FOM Nets and Kings square off for the crown, it will be battle of which team has a no-drain will as we know both teams are capable of doing damage
to the other.

However, in my very limited stats, it seems that the Kings has a slight advantage (given only the scorecards we have at hand).
Kaya nga I asked for more detailed stats from the beginning eh. hehehe ... anyway, here it goes ...

The NETS have an average winning margin of 6pts against powerhouse teams (namely; Kings, Spurs, and ok let's include Pistons)
While the KINGS have a winning margin of any of these PH teams of 15pts (Wizards, and Pistons if I may).

And the NETS rely heavily on number 23. You can check the individual scorecards. (and in fact, they had a close one against the Pistons where 23 fouled out
early on and thanks to their early cushion, they held on to win by 3 points)

While the KINGS, they can throw in a balanced attack on any given night. But then again - it will take their D on 23 to get there.
Which they didn't last time they met.

So we are at a crossroad between Individual Talent and Team Game. Who'll win it? Well you're guess will be as good as mine.
