12 Engineers Face Charges

A dozen Filipino engineers, aged between 27 to 45 years old, have been charged together with the company which employed them, with conspiring to defraud the Immigration Department.
 
All pleaded not guilty to the charge when they appeared before Sha Tin magistrate Timothy Simon Jenkins on Oct. 2

W. M. T., 47, a Hong Kong resident for 10 years, and Compass Technology Company Limited, a 10-year-old company which manufactures flexible device substrates or semi-conductors in Sha Tin, both stand accused in all of the 11 charges of conspiracy to defraud.

It's alleged that in five separate cases in 2004, and six in 2005, the two made false declarations as to the salaries of 11 Filipinos hired by Compass to enable them to secure an employment visa from the Immigration Department.

The Filipinos were each supposed to be paid between $18,000 and $21,000, but in fact, were paid only $10,000.

Eleven other Filipino engineers hired by Compass were originally questioned also by the police, but were later discharged without charges, and their bail returned.

Magistrate Jenkins scheduled a pre-trial review on Nov. 19 and increased the bail of the eleven Filipinos to $500 and $5,000 for W. M. T.

Meron din pala nito dito? How does this go along? Filipino's will sign an 18k/month contract but only recieving 10k in actual?

style dyan 2 contracts yata sign nila iba yung sa pinas iba rin yung sa hk...grabe naman...ang alam ko pa dyan sa compass 12 oras ang trabaho tapos wala yata bayad OT...totoo kaya to?
May taga Compass ba dito?
