Macau coronavirus: Close contacts of infected Filipino visitor from Hong Kong yield negative results

Eight people in Macau who have been in contact with a Filipino Hong Kong resident, who is confirmed to have corona virus have undergone several tests.  Although, all the tests are negative, they will remain in quarantine for 14 days at in isolated places as part of quarantine protocol by Portuguese colony.

According to TDM Macau News, authorities are still investigating and appeal to all people that might have contact with this woman to contact authorities on 2870 0800.

All locations where the patient has been – Roadhouse, Jollibee and two buildings – have been disinfected. The woman, being treated in HK, still does not show symptoms of the disease, she did not show before entering Macau and she was only diagnosed on the 29th of March.

Coronavirus: Hong Kong University estimated 250,000 Mainlanders will be infected

The number of corona virus cases in Hong Kong has soared dramatically. The Hong Kong University School of Public Health and the News and Media Research Centre held a workshop on the corona virus infectious disease yesterday. The director of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division of the University of Hong Kong School of Public Health, Yi Guan, estimated that the actual number of infected people in the Mainland may exceed 230,000.

According to Sing Tao Daily report,  he expected that the number of infections in Hong Kong alone would be higher than the number of confirmed cases, but believed that the current testing was sufficient, saying that it was not possible to test all returnees from overseas.

Filipino Woman in Hong Kong Infected with Covid-19 visited Macau


A 40-year-old Hong Kong resident of Filipino nationality, who was preliminarily diagnosed with Covid-19 infection in the neighbouring region, traveled to Macau during the disease onset.

The woman was in Macau from the 22th to the 27th of March visiting a friend, a non-resident Filipino worker.

According to Macau TDM News, the non-resident worker is now in isolation on the Coloane public health center due to being a close contact to her.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Advisory – Hong Kong Department of Health

Members of the public are strongly urged to avoid non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

COVID-19 refers to the cluster of viral pneumonia cases occurring in Wuhan, Hubei Province, since December 2019. According to investigation by the Mainland health authorities, a novel coronavirus is found to be the causative agent.

 

Members of the public are strongly urged to avoid non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

All people entering Hong Kong from the Mainland will be required to undergo compulsory quarantine upon their arrival.

Health quarantine arrangements on inbound travellers from overseas:

1. Hong Kong residents arriving in Hong Kong who have been to the following countries or areas in the past 14 days will have to stay in a quarantine centre for quarantine

a) Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do in Korea

b) Iran

c) Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto regions in Italy

2. Hong Kong residents arriving in Hong Kong who have been to any other overseas countries or areas in the past 14 days will be subject to compulsory quarantine
